FAPESP and GACD 2023 – non-communicable chronic diseases

Proposals that take a planetary health approach and that bring together teams from various disciplines and sectors are encouraged.

The FAPESP/Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) Call for Proposals aims to fund proposals for implementation research to reduce chronic noncommunicable disease (NCD) risk factors in underserved cities and populations globally. Proposals must demonstrate the potential to bring policy makers and practitioners together around evidence-based strategies.

Research to be undertaken should focus on how to implement one or more interventions known to prevent or reduce exposure to the chronic NCD risk factor(s) associated with urban settings.

The selected study population(s) must live in cities, which may include informal settlements or slums close to urban centres, peri-urban environments and urban centres. Applicants are required to demonstrate that there is a local demand or interest in the proposed research and that appropriate decision makers and end users were involved in the development of the research proposal.

Researchers from the state of São Paulo interested in submitting proposals must consult FAPESP regarding their eligibility before starting to prepare the project. Eligibility inquiries must be submitted exclusively through the SAGe System and will be answered within 20 days, if sent until May 18, 2023
