FAPESP launches call BIOTA Transformation

Foundation will allocate up to R$ 6 million to support the selected proposals. Eligibility and pre-proposal inquiries must be submitted by May 15.

The call takes place within the scope of the strategic plan of the BIOTA 2030 program, designed with the objective of innovating and transforming the Research Program in Characterization, Conservation, Restoration and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity of the State of São Paulo (BIOTA) to deal with the challenges of today, strengthening the integration of knowledge with society in stimulating transdisciplinary approaches.

The collaborative production of knowledge in biodiversity, anchored in current discussions on transformation science, is a fundamental premise to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the United Nations, having as main goal the reach of the different dimensions of sustainability, such as health and well-being, poverty reduction and food, water and climate security for all people everywhere.

The objective of the so-called BIOTA-FAPESP: Transformation is to support research projects that are anchored in co-production processes to expand transdisciplinary knowledge about the role of biodiversity as a central element in the transition to sustainability of socio-ecological systems.
