CNPq, CONFAP and FAPESP – Amazon+10

The Amazon +10 Initiative aims to support scientific research and technological development in the Legal Amazon.

Research proposals involving scientific expeditions aimed at expanding knowledge about socio-biodiversity and Amazonian biodiversity will be received. Teams must propose data collection, biological and mineral specimens, and pieces that are part of native and popular culture (present and past), always adhering to one or more of the priority axes described in the call.

Each proposal must have Responsible Researchers from at least two states of the FAPs that joined this call, one of which must be linked to higher education and/or research institutions based in the states of the Legal Amazon (Amazonas, Acre, Rondônia, Roraima, Pará, Maranhão, Amapá, Tocantins and Mato Grosso).

The project team must include at least one member who holds traditional knowledge related to the territory under research, whether belonging to indigenous peoples, quilombolas or traditional communities (PIQCTs).

The minimum value of each contemplated project will be R$400 thousand (considering the total value submitted in all FAPs involved in that proposal and the contribution from CNPq) – there is no maximum limit, with a duration of up to 36 months.

Four foreign agencies are also part of the notice: the British Council and the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), both from the United Kingdom, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), from Switzerland, and the Bavarian University Center for Latin America (BAYLAT) , from Germany.

Proposals must be submitted to CNPq by a Responsible Researcher with a formal link with an institution based in one of the States of the Legal Amazon by 29 April 2024.
