FAPESP will support strategic internet research

New opportunity with MCTI, MCom and CGI.br will support the development of research in information and communication technology in three aid modalities

FAPESP Agency – FAPESP announces a call for proposals for a “Strategic Research on the Internet”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), the Ministry of Communications (MCom) and the Internet Steering Committee in Brazil (CGI.br ). This is the tenth public notice that the institutions jointly launch to promote strategic research on information and communication technologies.

The call will support research projects in any area of ​​knowledge, related to the themes: a) Internet Enabling Technologies; b) Advanced Internet Applications; c) Network Communication and Digital Culture; d) Internet Policies; e) Free Software, Data, Formats and Open Standards; and f) Social Applications of Information and Communications Technology.

The call is open to researchers linked to national institutions of higher education or research, public or private, non-profit, who work in research areas for the development of the internet in Brazil. The total amount made available in the notice is R$ 35 million.

Proposals must be prepared in accordance with FAPESP's criteria for submission in the Research Grant – Regular, Research Aid – Thematic Project or Research Aid – Young Researcher modalities.

The submission of proposals is exclusively through the Management Support System (SAGe) from FAPESP. The deadline for submitting proposals is January 31, 2023.
